Action Packages
What Are Action Packages?
GHSA Action Packages were created at the first GHSA High Level Event in September 2014 as a means to facilitate regional and global collaboration toward specific GHSA objectives, milestones, and targets that align with the International Health Regulations (2005). Technical experts from countries around the world established Action Package working groups with the purpose of focusing international discussion toward specific, coordinated actions in support of the GHSA; highlighting measurable approaches countries can adopt to accelerate, monitor and report GHSA progress; and providing a mechanism by which countries can make specific commitments and take leadership roles in the GHSA.
Since their inception, Action Package working groups have successfully convened policy and technical experts to advance work in their respective areas, and served as incubators for testing new strategies and concepts.
The AMR Action Package seeks to globally combat antimicrobial resistance by addressing human and animal health, food production, and environmental aspects through multisectoral engagement and collaboration.
The Action Package Prevent-3 Biosafety and Biosecurity (APP3) seeks to advance global biosafety and biosecurity, in support of various international instruments and agreements, including the International Health Regulations (2005), the Biological Weapons Convention, and UNSCR 1540.
The Immunization Action Package seeks to attain effective protection through achievement and maintenance of immunization against measles and other epidemic-prone vaccine preventable diseases.
The Laboratory Systems Action Package seeks to establish real-time bio-surveillance through the development and implementation of a sustainable and responsive national laboratory system using effective modern point-of-care and laboratory-based diagnostics.
The Legal Preparedness Action package seeks to promote legal preparedness as a critical capacity for an effective public health emergency response and for strengthening global health security.
The Surveillance Action Package seeks to facilitate improved functioning of public health surveillance systems capable of identifying potential events of concern for public health and health security.
The SFP Action Package aims to take strategic actions for mobilizing global, regional, and country-level resources to achieve sustainable financing for preparedness by engaging relevant stakeholders to take coordinated action, contributing to existing efforts and tools, and galvanizing high-level support.
The Workforce Development Action Package seeks to develop prevention, detection, and response activities conducted effectively and sustainably by a fully competent, coordinated, evaluated, and occupationally diverse multisectoral workforce.
The Zoonotic Diseases Action Package aims to support its members to develop and strengthen their capacity and capability to prepare for, prevent, detect, and respond to zoonotic disease threats, using a One Health approach.
